Souping: The NEW Juicing

There is always a new trend out there to try, and whether it works or not depends on each individual’s mindset and willpower.  The latest cleanse craze that has been circulating around as of late, will keep you full all day and is Gwyneth Paltrow-approved: souping. The appeal of souping is that it’s an easier detox than a juice cleanse. We love soups, and we love cleanses that don’t leave you hungry, so naturally, we’re into this healthy food trend.

What? A soup-only cleanse to heal and nourish your body with wholesome ingredients. It allows your body to detox naturally while simultaneously reducing inflammation. The appeal of souping, is that it promises an easier detox than a juice cleanse.

Why? If you’ve ever done a juice cleanse, you’ve probably felt cranky, weak and hungry. Soup cleanses help make you feel more satiated, because they’re loaded with nutrition and fiber to help make you feel full longer.

Benefits? Glowing skin, reduced stress levels and higher energy. It also aids in building a strong immune system by cleaning your gut, and rebuilding your metabolism that works with burning fat. While juicing uses fruits and sugars, souping utilizes herbs and spices for great flavor, and added health benefits with savory options.

How it works? Make a bunch of veggie-loaded soups and eat only that for a few days. This allows your body to rest and get rid of toxins. We’ve included a recipe below for you to get a healthy kick-start to a more better you.

Beans & Greens Detox Soup


PC: Aloha

  • 5 cloves of garlic
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups spinach
  • 1 1/2 lemons, juiced
  • 1 large bunch of cilantro
  • 1 can of cannellini or great northern beans, drained
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 1 packet ALOHA Daily Good Greens
  • Olive oil
  • 3 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 bouillon cube
  • Salt and pepper


In a large stockpot combine chopped garlic, olive oil and salt; stir on medium heat for 1-2 min. until the mixture becomes aromatic. Then add in the chopped broccoli and stir for 5 more min.

Toss in the spinach, stirring to combine all of the ingredients together until the leaves become wilted.

Pour in drained beans, turmeric powder, lemon, cilantro, bouillon and water. Gently stir the mixture together and simmer for 15 min on low/medium heat.

Remove the soup from the heat and blend everything together
