Golden Globes 2017: TREND ALERT

Posted on 10 January 2017

When the Golden Globes, one of the biggest award celebrations have just recently passed, the first thing that goes through our minds are: Who won best dressed? And, which styles will set the trend for what will be a hit for 2017. This year’s best dressed was both sleek and minimal. With dresses being simplistic, this gave way for more emphasis and detailing of shoes.

Fashion stylist Micaela Erlanger, who’s styled the likes of Hilary Swank and Jennifer Hudson notes that when it comes to heels this season, “it’s all about a novelty, embellished option”. Whether it’s sparkly or subtle details, shoes matter more than ever this season because dress hemlines are shorter, and slits are higher showing off the heel. Be prepared for lots of glitz!

We couldn’t stop gushing over all the amazing dress designs that has been flooding the fashion stream. Below are our favorite picks and styles, which we can’t wait to see more of in the foreseeable future.

Emma Stone

Wearing: Valentino Haute Couture

Trend Alert: From the plunging neckline to avant garde star appliqués, it’s the absolute dream dress that girls have of wearing growing up. The flood of embellishments on dresses and shoes is a great indication that personalizing your own style with special add-ons will be one of the biggest trends of the season yet.

Nicole Kidman

Wearing: Alexander Mcqueen

Trend Alert: From its intricate silver embellishment to elegant drop shoulder, this McQueen gown is an ethereal dream on the statuesque actress. The décolleté is getting more recognition, as off-the-shoulder designs prove its worth for just any season. Be on the lookout as ruffled and bell-sleeves moves on the horizons.

Ruth Negga

Wearing: Custom Louis Vuitton

Trend Alert: Negga has proven herself as an emerging icon in film and fashion—and this futuristic silver paillette gown illustrates that idea perfectly. The structured shoulder of the gown gives it a masculine and strong feel, while a demure slit in the middle lends a feminine twist. These two combos are leading the way into how we style pieces that want to make a statement.

Blake Lively

Wearing: Atelier Versace

Trend Alert: Lively is no amateur when it comes to the red carpet, and always pulls off stunning looks. Having just given birth to a baby girl in December, she slayed the Golden Globes by rocking a jaw dropping velvet dress, with gold embellished neckline and pockets with Swarovski emerald cuffed bracelets. The velvet trend is here to stay and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Michelle Williams

Wearing: Louis Vuitton

Trend Alert: We were obsessed with the demure style that Michelle Williams pulled off. She wore 2016’s biggest trend—lace, off-the-shoulder and the choker. She made the entire ensemble look so elegant and refreshing.
